Northern Lights – The bridge: gouache painting

This piece is inspired by “Northern Lights” by Philip Pullman, the first book of “His Dark Materials” trilogy. It was a personal project made for the 2012 Bologna children’s Bookfair competition.

The bear remains behind while the girl passes a fragile snow bridge. The northern lights seem to reveal an inviting city. Is this a passage to another world?

A nice and fantastic northern nocturnal scene with a soft and colorful atmosphere.

Painted with Talens Extrafine gouache paint for artists on Fabriano watercolor 300 gsm paper, 100% cotton. 27 x 35,5 cm. There are some touches of colored pencils.
